PORTRAITS OF POLISH MEDICINE

Portraits of Polish Medicine is a prestigious distinction in the medical industry, awarded by the Rynek Zdrowia magazine and portal. The ceremony is traditionally held during the gala event crowning the first day of the Forum Rynku Zdrowia (Health Market Forum.) The award winners include outstanding doctors, healthcare managers and programmes associated with the implementation of innovative treatments.

Awards will be presented in three categories: Health Market Manager, Health Market Doctor and Health Market Event. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of the winners of the previous years' Portraits of Polish Medicine awards, representatives of various health care sectors and representatives of the Rynek Zdrowia editorial board.

Portrait of Polish Medicine:

  • Prof. Witold Rzyman, head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Medical University of Gdańsk at the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk

First Distinction:

  • Prof. Andrzej Matyja, Head of the 2nd Department of General Surgery at the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum

Second award:

  • Prof. Wojciech Szczeklik, Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, Head of the Centre for Intensive Care and Perioperative Medicine, member of the Council of Experts of the Supreme Medical Chamber

HEALTH MARKET EVENT

Portrait of Polish Medicine:

  • The first liver transplantation in Polish transplantology of two patients, after division of the organ, taken from a single donor, performed at the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery of the Warsaw Medical University

First award:

  • Two simultaneous lung and heart transplant operations at the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk

Second award:

  • Participation of the Polish Medical Mission in successive humanitarian and medical aid actions building a positive image of Poland abroad
