I’ve been working in the field of HIV/AIDS for over 20 years. I work both as a physician working directly with HIV-positive patients and as a officer responsible in the National AIDS Centre (agency of the Ministry of Health) for developing and implementing national policy on ARV treatment.
In a direct contact with my patients, I’ve learned that it is crucial to look further – beyond patient’s current physical health problems – and to take into consideration mental health of patient, his psychical and social situation and the participation of his relatives in the healing process. I would like to share Polish experience - full access to modern drugs, individualized therapy in my region in the countries where modern procedures and treatment standards in many countries are still not implemented. An effective therapy is one of the most important methods of prevention of transmission of new HIV infections. One of the key factors of combating AIDS epidemic is also good cooperation
